I couldn’t think of a better person to ask for a Miami guide than raw food junkie Malin Svensson. A fellow Swede, Malin spent a few years traveling around Europe working as a model before settling in South Beach 3 years ago. About Miami she says: ‘It’s a great place, but it’s very important to stay grounded and have a strong mentality. It’s easy to get caught up in this whole superficial scene and nightlife’. I usually do my breakfast at home. But I have a super cosy little place around the corner of my house, called Under the Mango Tree. It’s a small local place that many people don’t know about. They have delicious smoothies and superfood bowls!
Gym or yoga studio?
I can get pretty bored by the gym after a while so I do Pilates at JetSet Pilates or boxing at a place called Sobe kick here in Miami beach, I highly recommend both places! The best yoga studio here is definitely Green Monkey.
I have to say Jugofresh, they have all kind of cold pressed juices and healthy shots. I go there almost everyday for some fuel, it’s addictive! It’s definitely a place to check out if you are into a very healthy lifestyle.
I love the lunch at the Standard Hotel. It has a very pretty view over the bay to Miami downtown, right by the water. And the food is amazing!
I always visit farmers market every Saturday down in Coconut Grove. They have amazing raw food, juices, vegan/raw dessert. Any healthy food or exotic fruits you can imagine! Highly recommended if you plan a visit to Miami. hotel pool?
I don’t really hang by the pool, but Delano hotel has a very nice pool area. I always prefer the ocean, it’s just a few blocks away from my house, I feel lucky to always be able to walk over whenever I want.
I love SugarCane, it’s a place in Midtown Miami. Food is fantastic and the atmosphere as well. There is also a great tapas place called Wynwood kitchen. Very hipster, laid-back place full of art and graffiti.
I’m not really into the commercial music or places at all. After a few years of living here I’ve kind of found my local spots that I prefer. On a chill night I will go for Reggae at Purdy Lounge, or see a fantastic Jamaican or Cuban live band. I also like the underground scene such as tech house/techno/deep house. And we definitely have some good spots around here for that kind of music! I like Tree House, Don’t sit on the Furniture, Trade, Story and Space on Saturday nights.
